Temporary Rerouting of Riverwalk to begin October 13, 2021 for Building Construction
Tampa, FL (October 6, 2021) – A portion of the Riverwalk between W Platt Street/Channelside Drive and S Harbour Island Boulevard will close beginning on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 for building construction. A private contractor will be renovating the Tampa Convention Center at 333 S Franklin Street adjacent to the Riverwalk.
The Riverwalk between the Platt Street Bridge and the south side of the Tampa Convention Center (Sail Plaza) will close beginning at 9 am on October 13, 2021.
Riverwalk access between Platt Street Bridge and the Sail Plaza will be maintained via a designated Riverwalk detour route at all times during the construction.
Access to the Cross Bay Ferry St Pete-Tampa dock will only be available from the south side of the Tampa Convention Center.
The Riverwalk will reopen by 4 pm on Friday, December 23, 2022, weather permitting.
The City of Tampa recommends that pedestrians use the designated Riverwalk detour route between Platt Street Bridge and the Sail Plaza. A high-resolution map with the City of Tampa’s designated Riverwalk detour route can be found embedded below.
