16th Annual HCBA 5K Pro Bono River Run
The 2025 HCBA 5K Pro Bono River Run is a family friendly event that supports pro bono legal services in Hillsborough County. Registration is open to all individuals who work in the local legal community. The run will start at 10:00 a.m. and will again be located entirely along the Riverwalk from Water Works Park down to USF Park and back. The run will be chip-timed for those who are competitive at heart.
The goal of the race continues to be the pledging and performance of pro bono service from runners and walkers participating in the race, who also encourage others to support their participation by pledging their own pro bono hours.
Individuals can support the 5K Run and pro bono service in three ways: 1) As part of registration, a runner makes a personal pledge to perform pro bono hours; 2) A runner can actively solicit and encourage other individuals to personally pledge pro bono hours to support the runner’s participation in the Run; and 3) A non-runner can independently support the 5K Run by pledging their own pro bono hours.
Since the inception of the 5K Run, there have been almost 20,000 hours of pro bono service that have been performed assisting the indigent in our community. No other race gives you the personal satisfaction that comes from helping others who need your time, talent, and ability to resolve legal matters that are dramatically affecting their daily lives. In hopes of increasing pro bono service pledges by our Run participants, we are offering a reduced registration fee of $25 for every runner who pledges at least 25 hours of pro bono service.
